Frequently asked questions about the APCO 2Light Tandem.
Who is the 2Light Tandem built for?
For tandem pilots in daily professional operation. APCO developed it from the ground up for commercial tandem work, and the design follows weight consistently: 1.3 kg empty, just under 2 kg complete with Airfoam protector (537 g) and Lexan plate (84 g). If you fly several flights a day and hike back up between launches, you feel every kilo saved.
Does it fit my body height?
It is designed for 160 to 190 cm body height. The measurements in detail: back length 610 mm, seat length 430 mm, seat width 2 × 230 mm, supported back length 320 mm, hang-point height 420 mm. The carabiner spacing adjusts from 295 to 490 mm — the range over which you tune how direct the weight-shift steering feels.
What protects me in a hard landing?
An Airfoam protector at 537 g and a Lexan plate at 84 g. The Airfoam works without air filling, so it is effective from launch — unlike an airbag, which only reaches its full shape in flight. For tandem operation with short launches and little lead time, that is the more practical setup.
What EN class does this harness have?
None — and that is not a defect but a common mix-up. EN classes A to D describe the flight behaviour of paraglider canopies under EN 926-2. Harnesses are tested to their own standard (EN 1651), which covers the attachment, strength and the protector. If someone offers you a harness as "EN-A", it is mislabelled. The actual test documents for this model are available as downloads.
Is a reserve parachute included?
No. Harness and reserve are ordered separately, and that makes sense: the reserve must match the suspended weight, the container the packing volume of the reserve. Tell us which rescue system you want to install — we will check in advance whether container and canopy fit together.
