About this model.

According to APCO, the G-MD SLT is the superlight brother of the G-MD with the same performance but much less weight and packed volume thanks to PN-9 cloth. Its deployment sequence works with or without a cut-off system for the main wing, which makes it attractive to weekend pilots thanks to its simplicity of use. Comes complete with brake handles and bridle/riser.

Maintenance: APCO's manual recommends a repack every six months by a qualified person — in Germany a repack is mandated at least annually. After a deployment a professional repack is mandatory.

IX · FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the APCO G-MD SLT.

Does this reserve suit my weight?

According to the manufacturer the G-MD SLT is designed for 60 to 130 kg suspended load — the only model in the range with a lower limit. Sink rate is 4.0 m/s at 90 kg and 4.9 m/s at 130 kg.

What is special about this design?

Steerable Rogallo canopy, 36 m², 16 gores, 25 lines, PN-9 cloth. According to APCO fully steerable like a paraglider with a free choice of landing place, L/D of around 1.5 instead of a vertical descent, fast yet soft opening and good flare. The deployment sequence works with or without a cut-off system for the main wing. Complete with brake handles and bridle/riser.

How is the G-MD SLT certified?

Certification according to the manufacturer: EN (test report EP057.2012). The reserve is made by APCO in Caesarea, Israel. The test report is available as a download.

How often must the reserve be repacked?

APCO's manual strongly recommends having the reserve repacked every six months by a qualified person; in Germany a repack is mandated at least annually — whether you flew or the reserve sat in its container all season. After every deployment it must be repacked before the next use. If the reserve gets damp, the manual requires opening it, drying it out of direct sunlight and repacking only when completely dry.

How long may I fly the reserve?

The Mayday manual for this model gives no fixed service life. In the newer Square manual APCO states for all Mayday products: older than ten years means retire it, even if it looks fine, and recommends an annual airworthiness check. Storage per manual: cool and dry, beware of mildew, protect from UV.

Will it fit my container?

Packed volume is 5000 cc at 1.950 kg, packed size 30.5 × 22.0 × 13.5 cm. Container and reserve must match: if the container is too large the reserve sits loosely and can shift; if it is too small you cannot stow it cleanly and it comes out less easily in an emergency. Tell us your harness and we will check the combination before you order.
