VI · Construction

About this model.

Constructed to last, it will withstand dragging on the ground and harsh abuse – use the Adama instead of wearing out your full size wing!

Butt Holes (BT2) – passive release of any sand or debris from within the canopy.

Simple design, robust materials – No special folding needed.

Designed to be used in combination with APCO’s First harness.

The Adama is designed and intended for ground handling only — it has not been tested for flying and is not certified for flight.

IX · FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the APCO Adama.

Can I fly the Adama?

No. The Adama is explicitly a ground-handling wing and not intended for flying. That is not cautionary phrasing but stated in the manufacturer's data: there is no certified weight range for the wing — the field reads "N/A". It is built for practising on the ground, not for launching off a hill.

So what is the Adama good for?

For everything that comes before flying and never stops afterwards: inflating, keeping the canopy stable overhead, reverse launching, control in wind, feel for brake pressure. With 13 m² and 22 cells it is small, very direct and reacts faster than a flying wing — exactly what makes it a training tool. What you learn here works with every bigger wing afterwards.

How big and how heavy is it?

There is exactly one size: 13 m² flat, 10.8 m² projected, span 7.16 m, aspect ratio 4.0. The canopy weighs 2.45 kg — light enough to keep permanently in the car or rucksack, which is the decisive point for a training wing.

What is special about the construction?

The Adama has a full 3-riser system with trimmers — so you can work with angle of attack and trim setting on the ground rather than just pulling it up. Plus Butt Holes BT2 for venting. Practical in everyday use: it needs no special folding. After the session simply bundle it up and go, with no regard for reinforcements.

Is there a colour choice?

No, the Adama comes in one fixed colour option — APCO dispensed with colour choices on the training wing.
