Frequently asked questions about the APCO Mayday 28 UL PM Container XL.
Does this item include a reserve parachute?
No. The PM Container XL is only the front container — the housing the reserve sits in. You order the canopy separately. It is designed for the Mayday 28 UL deployment bag. If you order only the container and forget the reserve, you have an empty shell.
Which setup does this container suit?
Paramotor XL configurations. The capacity is 12,600 cm³ — sized for the Mayday 28 UL, which at 4.0 kg and exactly this volume is well beyond anything that fits a normal harness. For solo reserves from the PP or Square range this container is too big: a loosely seated reserve can shift and come out less cleanly in an emergency.
How does access work in an emergency?
The container is worn at the front and has a quick-release closure so that you reach the handle without searching. That is the whole point of front mounting: the reserve sits in your field of view and within direct reach, instead of at the side or behind you in the harness. Practise the grab regularly on the ground — the hand movement must be automatic before you need it.
Does the container itself need maintenance?
The container is inspected at every repack service of the reserve — for damage, wear and a properly functioning closure. APCO strongly recommends a repack by a qualified person every six months for the Mayday range (in Germany mandated at least annually); the container belongs on the table at that appointment. The rubber bands used to stow the lines are also replaced at every repack.
Is the container certified?
Certification applies to the reserve, not the container: according to the manufacturer the Mayday 28 UL is load tested by an EN-approved laboratory (EN 12491:2001, 340 kg). What matters is that reserve and container match as a combination and are packed correctly — that is the workshop's job at the repack service. If you are unsure whether your combination is right, tell us your setup and we will check it before you order.
