Shark Nose (APP / SAP)
Shark Nose is APCO's leading-edge profile. As the APP profile it retains, per the manufacturer, internal pressure across the entire speed range ('zero deflations or momentarily pressure drops'); SAP ('Supported Accelerated Profile') is the reinforcement system that stabilises the leading edge.

APP — the Sharknose profile
Original statement on the KARISMA II:
“A new specially developed APP type profile (Sharknose) was used. Our APP profile is instrumental in contributing to the safety of the wing by increasing and retaining internal pressure of the canopy across the entire speed range. The APP Sharknose supplies a flight experience with zero deflations or momentarily pressure drops inside the canopy.”
And on the speed bar: “the APP / sharknose profile keeps the wing highly pressurized and collapse resistant throughout the speed range.”
SAP — Supported Accelerated Profile
APCO defines SAP as “a reinforcement system that stabilises the wing’s leading edge”. On the NRG III: “The shark nose profile supported by SAP technology generates a much more efficient wing than ever before, but does not compromise on safety.”
