VI · Construction

About this model.

The full reflex profile combines high aspect ratio with efficiency in a manageable package. Mohawk technology acts like a rudder, improving roll stability and autonomous spiral recovery.

Flow Aligned Ribs follow the natural airflow, increasing performance and stability throughout the speed range.

The redesigned riser, speedbar and trimmer system delivers a wide usable speed range: sensible take-off and landing speeds, with open trimmers adding around 15 km/h without the speed bar. Trimmers are designed to be replaceable wear parts.

Split brake handles separate the main brake from tip steering for precise control and direct feedback without sacrificing roll stability.

Certification: DGAC registration for all three sizes (18, 20, 22); per-size certificates and the manual are linked in the downloads section.

IX · FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the APCO F1 MKII.

Is the F1 the right wing for me?

Only if you bring experience. The F1 is APCO's competition and speed wing; it is recommended from around 100 hours of powered flying. The aspect ratio of 6.6 is the reason: it delivers the performance and at the same time demands a pilot who can handle it. If you want relaxed weekend flying, the F5 is the better choice; for sporty XC, the F3.

Which size fits my take-off weight?

The F1 comes in 18, 20 and 22 m². In powered flight the ranges are 70–100 kg (18), 70–120 kg (20) and 70–140 kg (22) all-up weight. On a trike it is 70–120, 70–140 and 70–165 kg. On a wing of this design, wing loading strongly determines handling — talk to us before deciding between two sizes.

How is the F1 certified?

All three sizes carry DGAC registration. There is no EN 926-2 flight-behaviour classification for this wing — normal for a competition reflex, but it also means there is no EN class to point to for your federation or insurer. Clarify this beforehand if it matters to you.

How fast is it really?

Trimmers closed 38–42 km/h, neutral 45–49 km/h, open 55–59 km/h. With the speed bar, 80 km/h is possible — the highest figure in the APCO paramotor range. Slowest flight is 27 km/h, minimum sink 1.2 m/s. Those 27 km/h minimum are the flip side of the design: the F1 wants speed, including in the landing pattern.

What is special about the construction?

64 cells in every size — the cell count stays the same, the area grows. Added to that: Flow Aligned Ribs, 3D cut, the OAA airflow geometry, brake tensioners at the trailing edge and risers designed specifically for the F1. Canopy weight is 3.9 to 4.6 kg.

What warranty and which colours?

3 years or 250 flight hours — whichever comes first. Two colour options: Azure (#24) and Red (#5).
